Gift Exchange

Gifts

Gifts have become such a major aspect of Christmas
And what you think of gifts has two extremes…
Either you only care about what you get and Christmas is all about Santa Claus and what you want want want…
OR
Gifts in your mind is evil and "Oh my goodness. Gifts? I don't want any gifts! Gifts during Christmas just takes away from the real reason, Jesus Christ being born."

WELL

How about we take a happy medium and recognize that
Jesus was God's gift to us on Christmas morning!
Personally, the best gift of all was Jesus being born as a man.
So why do we have to be completely against giving and receiving gifts?
We don't!
Lets instead enjoy getting and receiving gifts while recognizing that
Christmas' first gift was Christ being born!

My friends and I enjoyed a gift exchange last night.
We had such an amazing time all begin together showing each other how much we love one another with simple (mostly homemade) gifts!

Enjoy :)

"Listen to the angels
Rejoicing e'er so sweetly
Receiving heaven's glory
The night that Christ was born
Oh such a wonderful savior
To be born in a manger
So that I can share His favor
And my heart be made anew"

A Christmas Carol

A play that screams the holiday season is

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

This December I had the opportunity to see the play
twice!
Once with my sister and her family and another time celebrating one of my friends birthday and
carrying on a tradition of him seeing it every year!
This year was his 17th time.

Both times the cast did a magnificent job portraying the characters that Dickens so cleverly concocted.

I saw the play at the South Coast Repertory.
This year was their 50th showing of A Christmas Carol

For the first showing with my sisters family,
the Repertory hosted a dinner before hand with delicious Asian inspired cuisine.
During intermission they provided refreshments and dessert
and soon after we left because Emma (my niece) was getting very sleepy!

But no worries!
Just two weeks later I was back again to see it with my boyfriend and friends!
All the way through :)

A Freshly Cut Christmas Tree

"...freshly cut Christmas trees smelling of stars and snow and pine resin - inhale deeply and fill your soul with wintry night"- John Geddes, A Familiar Rain

In Search for the Perfect Christmas

Tree

We finally found the perfect tree!!! And brought it home to start decorating!
Those darn tree huggers ;)

But you can't decorate on an empty stomach!
A full cookie jar = happy Scarlette

And the finished product!
~ with lights, pearls and ornaments to adorn the green leaves ~

Enjoy this Christmas season with your family and friends!
Never take a moment for granted!
Delight in the christmas trees, the eggnog, the candy canes, the fireplace keeping you toasty, and the joy that we have in knowing that Jesus Christ came to this earth
bringing hope for the hopeless!
